Australian Government Rebate for Installing Solar System on your property.

1. How the STC rebate works

The STC rebate is an incentive offered by the Australian government as part of its Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to encourage households to install renewable energy systems. Here’s how it works:

  • When you install an eligible solar power  system, you can receive a rebate by claiming STCs.
  • Your eligible rooftop solar system would receive one STC for every estimated 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity it would generate until 2030.
  • The level of STC rebate you could receive depends on the size of your solar system and how much electricity it is estimated to generate in the future – but you can claim the STCs in advance when your system is installed.
  • To simplify the process of trading the STCs, you may be able to choose for your solar retailer to lower the cost of your eligible rooftop solar system, using the STCs as an upfront discount.

By taking advantage of this rebate, you can save a lot of money however the earlier you install your solar system the greater the discount available.
